CHIROPRACTOR

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that is concerned on neuromusculoskeletal disorders, and the effects of these disorders on the general health of the human body. Doctors of Chiropractic often referred to as Chiropractors, practice a drug-free and hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment.

The most common treatment performed by Chiropractors is known as spinal manipulation, or also called Chiropractic Adjustment. The purpose of spinal manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a ‘high velocity and low amplitude’ force into joints that are restricted in movement (hypomobile), thus relieving pain, muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal. Besides spinal manipulation, Chiropractors also perform dry needling, soft tissue techniques or myofascial release techniques to relive trigger points in specific injured muscle

We will identify the underlying source of your health problem, always aiming to give you the maximum benefits of our expertise by tailoring a treatment program to your personal needs.

Most common conditions chiropractors treat includes:

  • Headaches/migraines
  • Neck/upper back/low back pain
  • Shoulder/elbow/wrist pain
  • Hip/knee/foot pain
  • Scoliosis
  • Sciatica/bulged/slipped disc
  • Work/sports related injuries
  • Wellness

As a healthcare profession which practices holistic approach, Chiropractors also provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle advises. Chiropractors do refer patients to appropriate health care providers when chiropractic care is not suitable for some patients’ condition, or co-management with other health care team is needed

About Chiropractic?

Who can benefit from Chiropractic?
Almost everybody. Although chiropractic patients are usually in the 40-65 year old age group, more and more children and geriatrics are getting the benefits from Chiropractic care as well. With today’s unhealthy lifestyle and a generation that spends most of their day using a PC or cell phone, sitting at an office or stuck in traffic and playing little sport or doing little exercise – neck pain, back pain, muscle stiffness and poor posture are on the increase.
How does Chiropractic work?
This is a good question. The beneficial effects of manipulation are well documented. Manipulative therapy improves mobility and reduces muscle spasm and pain, mostly due to effects of the high velocity, low amplitude thrust that is delivered during the “adjustment”. This impulse blocks pain pathways to the brain, which leads to a reflex reduction of muscle spasm and pain.
What is an Adjustment?
It’s a high velocity, low amplitude thrust delivered in a particular line of drive, to a joint that has been determined to have restricted movement.
How do I know I need Chiropractic care?
If you are suffering with any persistent neuromusculoskeletal symptoms, you should see a Chiropractor for advice. The most common people to seek Chiropractors are those suffering with aches, pains and discomfort to their spine and joints. Other symptoms often experienced by people that would benefit from Chiropractic care include: tingling, numbness, weakness, joint swelling and headache.
What should I expect during the consultation?
Any initial visit to a primary contact practitioner should involve a detailed history taking, general physical examination and a more detailed physical examination of the area of complaint. As a result of this you may or may not be required to go for some form of imaging (Xray or MRI examination) or even be referred for specific tests (blood or urine tests). This will help your physician establish a diagnosis and treatment plan for your condition, which will be carefully explained to you during your report of findings.
How many treatments will I need?
The treatment plan will vary according to the specific condition and its severity. Most mild conditions should resolve within few weeks, usually requiring weekly visits (1-3 times per week). More chronic or severe conditions will take longer. Some conditions require prolonged treatment or even maintenance care.
Can I have Chiropractic care after back or neck surgery?
Yes, Chiropractors often see post-surgical patients for adjustments and rehabilitation. Obviously safe techniques are used to help this type of post surgical patient. Manipulative techniques are not applied to surgically fused segments
